Optometrist:

Your Optometrist is your primary eye care provider.  They examine your eyes for both vision and health.  The Optometrist can provide medication to treat and prevent eye disease and diagnose conditions like glaucoma and macular degeneration.  They also can prescribe and fit glasses and contact lenses.

Ophthalmologist:

The Ophthalmologist is a physician who's expertise is in the medical and surgical care of the eyes.  They are able to perform eye surgery and treat all ocular diseases and eye injuries.

The Optometrists and Ophthalmologists participate in continuing education to stay on top of the latest trends and information.  They work together to keep yours eyes healthy.

You should contact your Optometrist first if you experience any changes in your vision and they can refer you to an Ophthalmologist if needed.
